2016年7月21日Board of Studies president Tom Alegounarias公布英文數學科學歷史最重要17門科目高考大綱改革草案，諮詢公眾意見，計劃方案通過後給與老師一年緩衝，2018年11年級學生開始新大綱，2019年12年級學生增加科學加深科目：Science Extension （2018年10月開始讀Science Extension）。2016年讀9年級的學生開始新大綱。

大家比較關注的數學會怎麼變：注重抽象問題的實際應用：所有的數學課程都將教授統計學，並引入個人理財知識。4單元數學課程會更艱深。數學已決定延後一年開始新大綱，2020HSC.
（In maths, there is a new focus on teaching its practical applications for abstract problems by introducing personal finance and statistics at all levels, including extension maths. At the highest level, Extension 2 Maths is expected to become more complex.）
